About Me

My photo
HikingEquipment
Hello Hikers, My name is Richard Griffin and I have been a social hiker for over 35 years since joining the Boys’ Brigade (BB) at the age of 12. My parents were either not interested or not educated in the benefits of the great outdoors. I didn’t start to appreciate the benefits of fresh air and exercise until I joined the BB. I have also been a member of the national Youth Hostel Association (YHA) walking group and a local branch in Wolverhampton until in closed down. More recently I became a member of SPICE UK through the local branch in Birmingham. SPICE stands for Special Programme of Initiative, Challenge and Excitement where I enjoy the countryside and company of fellow walkers. I also enjoy going on cottage holidays with my partner and hiking in the locality of the cottage.
