Article - Weekend Hiking Based In Whitby, North Yorkshire, England
This hiking weekend was for 2 nights from Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon.
The hiking on Saturday was a 10 mile circular route with the option of returning by train after 5 miles. On the morning we drove a short distance to Goathland, which was made famous as the village of "Aidensfield" in the TV programme, Heartbeat. We then hiked 5 miles to the lovely town of Grosmont. The afternoon hiking was another 5 miles back to Whitby. The hiking on Sunday was a 10 mile figure of eight route. We drove to the lovely fishing village of "Robin Hoods Bay". The morning hiking was about a 6 mile circular route with great views of the coast. We returned to Robin Hoods Bay for lunch and for a little exploration. After lunch we had the choice of a shorter circular hike of about 4 miles in the opposite direction along a disused railway before returning along a coastal footpath. The final day hiking on Monday was a 5 mile circular route. We drove inland to the moors and the famous "Hole of Horcum", which is a huge natural hollow 400ft deep. Article - Hiking Holiday Around Eden Valley In Cumbria, England
We did 3 day hiking journeys, the first to High Force as well as Low Force falls, the second about the town of Appleby-In-Westmorland and the 3rd at High Cup on the Pennine Way within the North Pennines.
The Eden Valley is a lush and bountiful area and good hiking country with a lot of paths available. Much of the countryside is actually farmland, together with open fields bordered by hedgerows and dry-stone walls. It's also near by the Northern Pennies which has a distinctive awe-inspiring landscape of higher moorland and also broad upland dales. You'll discover a number of interesting reminders of the mining and industrial era, as well as some unique birds, animals and flora. Article - Return Hiking Holiday Around St Ives In Cornwall, England 2010
This return hiking holiday to St Ives Cornwall with Holiday Fellowship (HF) Holidays was again a fabulous time for me. In 2009 we did itinerary 2 and had such a great experience that we decided to do itinerary 1 this year. We had a choice of three day hikes each day on this hiking holiday.
The HF Holidays' Hiking Leaders were great. During the day hiking they guided us in a caring and considerate way, and also pointed out places of interest. During the evening they socialised with the hiking guests or provided forms of entertainment. Article - Hiking Holiday Around St Ives In Cornwall, England 2009
This hiking holiday in St Ives Cornwall was with Holiday Fellowship (HF) Holidays was a great experience. St Ives is a delightful resort town with a maze-like old fishing area. It's a perfect centre from which to discover the surrounding region.
The HF Holidays' Hiking Leaders were great. During the day hiking they guided us in a caring and considerate way, and also pointed out places of interest. This holiday was very sociable. We enjoyed the company of other hikers and the holiday leaders in a warm and friendly atmosphere, making good use of the welcoming bar and comfortable lounges. At St. Ives, HF offer two hiking itineraries which can be done as a 2 week holiday or as 2 separate 1 week hiking holidays. On this holiday we did itinerary 2 and as we had such a good time we booked itinerary 1 for the following year. There were 5 days of hikes and the hiking time was around 5 to 7 hours each day. We spent our free day taking a look around St Ives. Article - Hiking Holiday with SPICE and Tracks N Trips in Albiano Tuscany, Italy
The time spent on this Hiking Holiday in the Tuscany region of Northern Italy was superb. Tuscany was a delightful experience with stunning landscapes and ancient cities. Virtually every village had art treasures to stir the imagination of times gone by. We stayed in Albiano, close to Barga in the area of Garfagna, meaning enchanted wood, in Northern Tuscany, located between the Appennine mountains and the Alpi Apuane mountains.
The hikes we did were on good tracks, which were usually mule tracks or forest trails. There were 5 days of hikes and the hiking time was around 5 to 7 hours each day. On one of the days we were hiking in the Orecchiella Natural Park. All of the hiking involved some up-hill climbs with the greatest ascent for the week being 2,800 ft, which was the equivalent of climbing Snowdon in the UK. Article - Day Hiking around Appleby-In-Westmoorland in the Eden Valley in Cumbria England
This was the second day hiking trip myself and my partner Anne undertook on our hiking holiday in the Eden Valley, Cumbria, England in June 2010.
To sum up, this is a moderate day hike and quite easy, level walking. It was a great introduction to the Eden Valley and the River Eden area. It was along a clear, well marked route, including some country lanes. We hiked through some beautiful riverside scenery and also visited a picturesque waterfall, Rutter Force.

Article - Day Hiking around High Force Waterfall in the North Pennines in Teesdale England
This was the first day hiking trip myself and my partner Anne undertook on our hiking holiday in the Eden Valley, Cumbria, England in June 2010.
This was a moderate day hiking trip and was a great introduction to the Teesdale area. It was along clear, well marked paths, including a solidly surfaced section of The Pennine Way. There was a moderate amount of ascent and one section which has a tendency to be a little boggy. We also visited two lovely waterfalls, Low Force and High Force.
