Article and Video - Figure of Eight Day Hiking around Rhossili Down and Worms Head on The Gower Peninsula South Wales

Myself and my partner, Anne, did this 8 mile day hiking trip whilst we visited the Gower Peninsula in South Wales on a Hiking Holiday during October 2010. This Hike can be done as just Rhossili Down at 4 miles, just Worms Head at 4 miles or both at 8 miles depending on the tide times. If you want to do both parts, use the tide times for crossing to Worms Head to determine which section to do first. We did Rhossili Down early in the morning to catch the low tide for crossing to Worms Head later in the day.

The highest point above sea level on the Gower Peninsula is Rhossili Down's Beacon. It has imposing all round views of the peninsula. Although there is one steep climb up Rhossili Down, it isn't too long and is over and done with fairly quickly and well worth as the views you get of Rhossili Bay are fabulous. We went up the far end called Hillend.

With regard to Worms Head, it is very tricky underfoot with a long stretch of rocks to tackle to get to the first tract of land, the Inner Head. To get beyond that a second section of rocks and boulders must be contended with.
