Cornwall Walking Bude Hiking on the South West Coast was roughly 5 miles in distance and undertaken in May 2011. I did this route with my partner Anne whilst on a Cornwall hiking holiday in St Teath. We drove straight to the hiking location from home, the Crescent pay and display car park which also had the Bude Tourist Information Centre located within it. After the hike we continued our journey to our holiday accommodation in St Teath.
Just after the start there was quite a steep ascent to Compass Point. After that the walking was relatively easy. We followed the coastal path south which is fairly near to the road from Upton onwards, but not too close that well-behaved youngsters or dogs cannot be left to roam around. At Widemouth Sand the path headed inland across pleasant fields to Bude Canal by Helebridge near Marhamchurch. We then returned to Bude alongside the quiet and peaceful canal.
